Steering Committee term extended
The Wesley Precinct Steering Committee has had its term extended until the end of December 2009. The Committee, chaired by the General Secretary, The Rev. Rob Brown, comprises the Rev. Dr. Douglas Miller (Wesley Congregation), emes/advanced/langs/en.js?1255043960" type="text/javascript"> Sue Cattermole (Wesley Mission), Sebert Ruddock (Synod) and Kirsty Bennett, Manager Major Projects and Architecture. The Steering Committee is the body given overall responsibility by the Church to oversee the building project.

Planning Permit Lodged
The developers, Hamptons, lodged the planning permit for the Wesley Precinct development with the Department of Sustainability and Environment just before Christmas. It is expected that it will take up till the end of March for it to be processed.

One major change in the plans is that now the Wesley Mission and the Synod head office will occupy four full floors – levels 1 to 4 – instead of 8 half floors. This will provide much more efficiency in communications and team activity. Being able to occupy full floors will also be more attractive to potential tenants than half floors, and once planning approval is granted, the marketing of the new building will get under full swing.

Building Timetable
Hamptons have advised that they now expect construction to commence late this year. The construction phase will take approximately 2 ½ years.

Vision Planning Committee
The Vision Planning Committee delivered its final report and recommendations to the Wesley Precinct Steering Committee in December, and the Report was tabled at the Property Board. The Wesley Precinct Steering Committee will consider how best to distribute the report to interested parties.

Financial Viability and Beneficial Use working group
The Financial Viability and Beneficial Use working group, independently chaired by Russell Rechner, has also had its term extended.
