Crosslight Newspaper

Crosslight is a monthly newspaper for people who have a link with the Uniting Church.

The paper is based at the church’s Victorian and Tasmania Synod Office, in Melbourne, but it’s not just about church leaders and official policy.

It’s written for, and about, the whole community of the Uniting Church and beyond. Crosslight aims to publish stories, comments and letters that reflect the depth and diversity of the church. You’ll find this in articles on local congregations and people, for example. It’s also in the national or international stories in every edition that explore the connection of faith with culture, politics and community. Produced as a tabloid, mostly 16 pages, the paper is published 11 times a year.

Crosslight is distributed free to all members and associates of Uniting Church congregations and agencies across Victoria and Tasmania, as well as individual subscriptions. Crosslight offers a public media space for Uniting Church people, and for those who seek understanding and insight in matters of faith and belief, to be stimulated and informed in their journey.

Crosslight has won numerous Australasian Religious Press Association (ARPA) awards for its reporting over the years. In 2005 it won “Best news article” (about churches and their financial investments), “Best feature story” (about suicide in Victoria’s rural areas) and “Best story by a new or non-professional writer” (about a relationship with a person who has dementia).
