Giving is Living commenced at the start of 2010 and it is the first year of a new initiative within the life of the Synod of Victoria and Tasmania. It has been designed to help people appreciate the relationship between discipleship and mission; between our weekly 'offering' and our response to God's mission in the world.
Giving is Living is important for the synod. Important, because it says a lot about who we are and what we value. Without it, many aspects of our life together would not be funded. The dandelion in the logo, and featured in the material, illustrates the seeds of possibilities being sown in hope that are part of the little and the big things that are being done in Christ's name across Tasmania and Victoria. Individual and congregational giving plays a vital role in enabling the church to respond to God's mission in the world.
Giving is Living enables people to catch a glimpse of some of the things that others, through faith, are attempting to bring to life. Giving represents self-sacrifice; it breaks the cycle of self-interest. Through giving, other lives are changed. This initiative is designed to not just awaken a spirit of generosity but tell the story of what generosity has already done and can still do.
It is our hope that through this website you will be enriched and inspired by the activities that are made possible through the offerings people make in response to the love of God.

I have always been the recipient of great generosity and I have ministered in congregations sustained by the giving of others. In those congregations, there is a sense of gratitude but also a desire to give.
The giving of others inspires a generosity of spirit, which often leads to great things happening in mission.
In a rural parish, there was always a sense of wanting to help those less well off.
