Schoolies for the Environment (Grampians) begins like the other schoolies programs with the welcome lunch and briefing in Melbourne. Get to know schoolies from all three programs and get excited about what you're about to do! After the 1.5 days of briefing, hop on the bus to Halls Gap and get ready to be useful! Soon after you check into the YHA eco hostel in halls gap, you'll figure out this is the coolest hostel you've ever stayed in - they have communal herb gardens, and you are free to use the herbs in the communal kitchens as you make your dinner. The free range chickens may also leave you a high-protein gift if you're lucky.

After a site-briefing, you'll be put to work in the Grampians National Park doing what's needed to help conserve this stunning area. Working with Conservation Volunteers Australia you'll work on projects like building walking tracks, tree planting, and pest plant removal. In the wee hours of the morning, you can go out with research scientists and help with wildlife monitoring - the cuter side of conservation! Between your days of physical exertion, you can go on some of the iconic hikes around Halls Gap, and relax in the area's magnificent waterfalls. Back to Melbourne once you've finished up your environmental work, and share your stories with the other schoolies groups. Debriefing and discussion could lead to something amazing as newly found interests combine, and you share your knowledge of conservation in Australia. Sunday lunch is the last event for schoolies, and afterwards you'll have a fresh outlook and clear environmental conscience!
