Schoolies for Indigenous Australia (Cape York)

visit real Australia with first Australians
live with locals in communities
discover ancient cultures
participate in reconciliation
Schoolies for Indigenous Australia (Cape York) starts in Melbourne with a welcome lunch and briefing to get you motivated and set your mindset for schoolies. At the briefing venue you will meet schoolies from all three programs, and learn what adventures they are about to embark on as well as your own. After a day and a half of fun and games, you will head off with your schoolies group to Cairns, QLD. From there you will be whisked away in troop carriers, and start making your way up towards the cape. Your first major event will be staying in the daintree rainforest with the local Wujal Wujal community. Traditional knowledge and belief will present you with a new perception of this amazing ancient rainforest.

From the daintree you will continue up to Laura - an area famous for its well-documented rock paintings. Up to now, your 4WDing will have been relatively tame, but from here it will get pretty bumpy as you get further and further into this isolated region.

Next on the trip will be Lockhart River - the northern-most town on the east coast of Australia, and renowned for its natural beauty. Local groups will host you, and invite you into their lives and culture.

From the east coast you will then travel across to the west coast to the Weipa area, where you will get to know young people living life in the tropical north. Get to know each other, share cultures, participate in reconciliation.

Finally, after moving around the Napranum, Mapoon, Weipa area you will fly down to Cairns and through to Melbourne for your debrief (and some well-earned sleep!) In Melbourne you will be able to talk about the amazing experiences you have just had, and learn what happened on other schoolies programs. You can use this time to discuss new initiatives you have thought of during your schoolies, and get input from other inspired schoolies. A final Sunday lunch, and you're off into the big blue world once again!
have some tropical fun (of the 4WD variety!)
